The exact products shown below [OR similar products from the same brand] have been repeatedly tested by Lead Safe Mama, LLC (using XRF technology) and have been consistently found to be Lead-free. In our opinion the companies featured on these pages have behaved ethically and responsibly when it comes to toxicant concerns and considerations in manufacturing.
Water Bottle Notes:
The products below have been expressly chosen because I have tested countless examples from each of these brands and they have consistently tested Lead-free in all components (for the types of water bottles shown for that brand.)
- Hydroflask is the only brand of insulated stainless bottle that I found that consistently does not have Leaded sealing dots.
- For Kleen Kanteen I only recommend the non-insulated bottles as I have not done enough destructive testing of their insulated bottles to make a definitive Lead-free determination.
- With stainless and aluminum bottles I recommend using them for water only (not tea, coffee, juice or other potentially acidic beverages) and rinsing them out and changing the water daily). If you use your bottle for beverages other than water, I suggest you choose glass.
As you would with any purchase, please read the full product description (and product reviews) when you click through BEFORE making your purchase decision.
Thanks for doing all this work! Even better are glass bottles with no plastic exposed to the water inside. Otherwise it eventually gets a moldy gray stain. I bought Xtremeglas and Kanrell for that reason. There is only metal in under the lid & I hope it is as nontoxic as it seems!
