Thank you so much for bringing awareness to this. To clarify, do you have any reason to believe that the plastic versions of the brands listed above might contain lead when their glass options do not? Personally I am sold on using glass, but I have family members and friends who use some of these plastic varieties. Thank you
Thank you for this information Tamara. Agent tested the Pura Kiki stainless steel bottles? Thank you for all you do!
Historically – 2017 / 2018 and before – the pura Kiki insulated bottles had solid lead sealing dots. I would never recommend the brand as a result. They handled the situation very badly and they never issued a recall nor acknowledged the issue nor took responsibility. I have not tested their newer products but it is on my agenda. There are quite a few posts about this on http://www.LeadSafeMama.com
I can’t seem to find on your website, but have you tested Como Tomo baby bottles? They are silicone but also have a plastic ring.
Why do you recommend a natural rubber nipple? Does the same go for pacifiers? Thank you!
The natural rubber nipples are less likely to test positive for trace levels of Cadmium (or any harmful metals for that matter). Cadmium is a known carcinogen. Even if it is in the silicone nipples at levels that are considered to be ‘safe by all standards” – in my opinion Cadmium should not be in baby bottle nipples at all (even at “safe” levels). We need to do better for our children.
