The exact products shown below [OR similar products from the same brand] have been repeatedly tested by Lead Safe Mama, LLC (using XRF technology) and have been consistently found to be Lead-free.
Pots & Pans Note:
The products below have been expressly chosen because they do not have any decorative elements (logos or otherwise) that might be made of Lead-contaminated metals, Leaded enamels or Leaded paint. If a product on this page has decorations or painted markings it is because recent examples from that brand have been consistently found to be Lead-free using XRF technology. If you order one of these products and it appears to have a painted logo on a glass lid or on the bottom (that cannot be seen from the Amazon listing – please let us know so we can evaluate if we need to remove the product from this page.) As you would with any purchase, please read the full product description (and product reviews) when you click through BEFORE making your purchase decision.

Whoa! These are not even remotely affordable for the average consumer. Are than any other brands with a lower price tag? OUCH.
Tamara says
There’s a full range of prices in the examples here. There are some expensive ones and some very inexpensive ones ($159 for a set).

Hi. Are there any lead and aluminum free? Thanks!
Tamara says
None of these have any food contact aluminum. Here’s an article about aluminum core pans that might be helpful:

How do the Xtrema pots rate?
Tamara says
They are not Lead-free. You can read about them on the Lead Safe Mama blog – I have quite a few posts, including one with 140 comments (most of which are from the owner of the company who was pissed at me for finding 14 metals in his “metals-free” pans!

Have you tested the Blue Diamond brand?
Tamara says
No.

Is there a reason the Solidteknics cookware is no longer on your list?
Tamara says
They are no longer available in the United States.

Tamara says
Hi – it works when I click it – so, yes – it looks like it might not work in Europe – sorry. I will see if I can fix that.

Are the Viking pots and pans. Are they lead free?

I thought most clear glass, iron, and stainless steel would be safe to assume they are safe. Why is this not a correct assumption?
Would products from restaurant supply stores be safe?
Tamara says
Hi – unfortunately it is not a correct assumption – there are Leaded components hiding in many of these items unfortunately. Glass can have Lead-painted measurement or logo markings (the lids on stainless pans for example – or the lids on some glass pans) and there are cast iron pans with leaded brass decorative components (handles that you touch with the normal course of cooking). A lot of iron pans are also coated with enamels that can contain Lead, Antimony and Cadmium. Additionally some stainless pans have exposed aluminum components that can contain lead (they are typically components made of recycled cast aluminum).

First off, thank you for your dedication and all the amazing research you have done! Do you know if the stainless lined copper clad pans by Mauviel and or Ruffoni are safe to use?
Thank you

Hi Tamara! Thanks for all the useful info! Do you have an opinion on carbon steel cookware / frypans? It is lighter than cast iron so it is my go-to, but not sure if it is as good/not as good as cast iron from a toxicity standpoint. I have yet to find info about carbon steel …most ppl only talk about cast iron. DeBuyer is the brand I have purchased in the past few yrs after getting rid of other “toxic” cookware from my kitchen (i.e: non-stick teflon pans). Thanks again!

Not yet – I am waiting to do some testing on other brands. Which brand are you looking at? Unfortunately the Solidteknics (which I love) is not available in their full product range at the moment.

Hi Tamara, I noticed the Cuisinart sets you recommended have markings inside to show measurements. I read your article mentioning that we shouldn’t but stainless steel items with markings so is the markings in this set a concern?

I have tested these and these are lead-free.
